Colour charts for stamps - red

Web designers have a keen interest in colour combinations, I’m often picking up Dulux paint colour charts and saving Kuler (Adobe Color CC) themes with an eye for future projects.

So it was with nerdy glee that I picked up two vintage 1940s colour charts, featuring ‘real’ adhesive stamps to help collectors become “familiar with the correct names of standard colours”.

A Popular Colour Chart for Stamp Collectors

Originally sold by H.E. Wingfield, London, I picked up this colour chart for £42 at an auction (Oct 2014). With colour labels such as lake (red), myrtle (green), bistre (gold) and slate violet (dark blue), the full colour chart makes interesting reading. Here’s the colour chart in full, I hope you enjoy the images as much as I do.
