Colchester is famous for being Britain’s oldest recorded town and the Roman capital in England. I’m lucky to have several web design clients in the area and always love to combine a client visit with a trip around the town. It has a vibrant city centre, a great castle and fantastic zoo, a place I remember visiting on school and family trips as a child.

On a very cold Valentine’s Day, we made the short journey to Colchester Zoo. The zoo staff had made the day extra special by giving many of the animals frozen heart food blocks and even a Valentine’s Day sign in the penguin enclosure!
Here are some of the photos from the day. I’d happily recommend Colchester zoo as the place to go to fill a dull weekend, just bring a full camera battery!
