Google Adwords can be very effective if used correctly. Here are a few tips directly from Google at a conference to online retailers last month.
- Add a keyword to your ad
 – including a keyword in your ad increases the chance of it being highlighted in search results.
- Highlight USPs
 – Unique Selling Points such as delivery times, money saved, awards won, quality.
- Have a clear CTA
 – Call To Actions such as buy, book, call.
- Create a specific landing page
 – Using a more relevant destination page will decrease your bounce rate. Your homepage is likely to be too broad.
- Use persuasive language
 – Free, cheap, sale, limited offer; are likely to entice more click-throughs.
These simple tips will hopefully increase your CTRs and overall success rate. Not optimising your adwords can prove very expensive and frustrating.
